Welcome to the shiny new weekly intern post on the blog! You’ll be hearing stories from each of us over the next few months.
My name is Mitch and I’ll be your intern this week (anyone need a coffee?).
I’ve been here for over a month now and it’s been absolutely wonderful. So far I’ve hung lights, painted floors, learned how to use the Firehall’s cutting-edge box office technology, searched through the archives for amusing stories for the blog (That one about the guy splitting his pants open was my find. You’re welcome) and lots more (including almost falling off the deck in the courtyard and dying).
The highlight for me so far was workshopping the Empress of Asia script with Donna, Larry Wong and the other actors. If you saw the reading, I played the immigration official and the police officer. What a pleasant surprise that was! Coming into the program I expected to be doing things like cleaning bathrooms and taking out garbage and going on bubble tea runs for Jamie, you know, stereotypical intern-y type things. They treat us much better than that though and have been giving us all sorts of opportunities to learn new and exciting things. I’m looking forward to what the next few month’s bri–
Oh shoot, I’ve gotta go pick up Donna’s dry cleaning, and those toilets aren’t going to scrub themselves (with a toothbrush…).
That’s all for now, come say hi next time you’re here!
