The Battle of Vimy Ridge was a turning point in Canadian self-determination. In this play by Governor General’s Award-winning playwright Vern Thiessen, a nurse looks over four young soldiers as they recover from the battle in a military hospital in France. All five are drawn into the past as memories of their time on and off the front occupy their thoughts. Thiessen creates characters with extreme depth and feeling in this exploration of friendship, responsibility and nationalism.
