Marketing & Communications Manager

The Firehall Arts Centre is seeking a Marketing & Communications Director to undertake the marketing and communications portfolio for the not for profit Firehall Theatre Society, who manages and programs the Firehall Arts Centre.

The Marketing and Communications Manager’s primary responsibilities include (but are not limited to):

  • Developing and promoting the public profile of the theatre and its productions, ensuring productive relations with audiences, the media, the community and other partners
  • Maintaining and expanding the company’s profile in the public realm and generating interest in the company’s projects
  • Managing all forms of electronic marketing including website, e-newsletter, e-marketing initiatives, and social media channels
  • Conceptualizing and implementing all marketing, communication and promotional campaigns
  • Overseeing and providing input into the design, printing and distribution of all printed marketing materials including brochures, leaflets, posters, programs, advertisements
  • Assisting with the development of community outreach plans and the overall planning of the Firehall season.
  • Ensuring that public and private funder recognition as deemed appropriate and agreed upon is fulfilled with regard to all marketing initiatives and marketing materials
  • Assisting in maintaining the ongoing conversation with current patrons and cultivating new and diverse audiences (including periodic surveys of audiences)
  • Working with the contract publicist to ensure media relations are maintained, including interviews, photos, reviews and other press coverage
  • Monitoring marketing plans, timelines, budgets and schedules

The ideal candidate will have a passionate commitment to theatre and dance and a genuine interest in the work of the Firehall Arts Centre.  Relevant post-secondary education in Marketing or Arts Administration (or equivalent experience) is highly desirable. A minimum two years experience in arts marketing is required.   • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • High standard of organization and efficiency
  • A working knowledge of Microsoft Office and design programs including Adobe Photoshop, In Design & Illustrator

  • Ability to work independently and according to set targets and deadlines
  • Experience in managing budgets
  • Ability to work in a team environment
  • Driver’s license as asset

This is a full-time position with the majority of the work occurring on site but with the flexibility for some work from home.  Salary range from $45000-$55000 dependent on experience with extended medical and dental benefits.

Front of House Manager

JOB DESCRIPTION:
The Firehall Arts Centre is seeking an enthusiastic Front of House Manager to join our team.  We are looking for someone who is passionate about customer service, inspired by theatre, dance and visual arts and enjoys the creative rewards of being part of a team making art happen in this amazing Heritage Building.

Job Overview: Reporting to the Operations Manager and Managing Director, this is an excellent opportunity for a front of house professional, with strong customer service skills, looking to work at a busy arts facility and help develop the customer experience and customer safety at the Firehall Arts Centre.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage the volunteer ushers
  • Complete end of night reports
  • Liaise with the Stage Manager and Box Office to ensure the house opens and shows start in as timely a manner as possible
  • Provide excellent customer service and ensure customer safety, including leading an evacuation of the building, in the unlikely event that this is necessary
  • Help where needed, for example helping the bartender during intermission and help the Box Office scan Vaccine QR codes.

Qualifications:
The ideal candidate will have a passion for theatre and dance and a genuine interest in the work of the Firehall Arts Centre. The Firehall is an equal opportunity employer interested in positive, creative candidates who bring a new perspective to a wonderful team. Other qualifications include:

  • Experience with customers in a performing arts venue
  • Demonstrates impeccable skills in working with the public, maintaining a positive attitude, flexibility and an ability to listen to concerns and resolve problems creatively

  • First Aid Level 1 qualification training an asset

Note: The Firehall can pay for this training, if the right candidate does not already have this

 Hours of Work: Hours vary each month, depending on the number of shows. Candidates must be available to work three shifts per show week, with an average of 5-12 shifts per month, most of which will be in the evening.

Box Office Attendant

JOB DESCRIPTION:
The Firehall Arts Centre is seeking an enthusiastic Box Office Attendant to join our team.  We are looking for someone who is passionate about customer service, inspired by theatre, dance and visual arts and enjoys the creative rewards of being part of a team making art happen in this amazing Heritage Building.

Job Overview: Reporting to the Operations Manager and Managing Director, this is an excellent opportunity for a box office professional, with strong customer service skills, looking to work at a busy arts facility and help to develop the efficient operations of its Ticketing System.

Responsibilities:

  • Box Office sales including single ticket sales, subscriptions and memberships, in person, by phone and via email using the Theatre Manager Ticketing program
  • Selling tickets before theatre, dance and music performances
  • End of day procedures and cash outs
  • Handling transactions with attention to detail, discretion and security, and maintaining a professional behaviour when handling customer requests

Qualifications:
